GOTS - GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD

(GOTS) is the world's leading textile processing standard for organic fibres. It encompasses both ecological and social criteria, and is supported by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. It was developed by leading standard setters with the aim of defining globally recognised requirements for organic textiles. From the harvesting of raw materials to environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing and labelling, textiles certified to GOTS offer consumers a credible assurance of quality and sustainability."

 FAIR TRADE

GLOBAL FAIRNESS

Fairtrade is more than just a label; it's a commitment to stable prices, decent working conditions, and the empowerment of farmers and workers worldwide.

The Impact of Fairtrade

Fairtrade revolutionises the dynamics of trade by ensuring better prices, creating decent working conditions, and providing a fairer deal for farmers and workers in developing countries. This approach empowers these individuals, giving them more control over their lives and the ability to invest in their future.

Fairtrade & OCC Apparel

As a vanguard in the global movement for fair trade, Fairtrade not only supports but also challenges businesses and governments. It bridges the gap between farmers, workers, and consumers, fostering a connection that goes beyond the transaction.

By choosing Fairtrade products with OCC Apparel, you can make a difference with your everyday actions. A product bearing the FAIRTRADE Mark signifies that producers and businesses have met internationally agreed standards, independently certified. This ensures that farmers and workers have a significant voice at all levels of Fairtrade, from managing their local organisations to influencing Fairtrade's global decision-making.

FAIR WEAR

OCC Apparel are the Australian distributors for Continental Clothing & Stanley Stella who are Fair Wear Foundation members. The Fair Wear Foundation is an independent, non-profit organisation that works with companies and factories to improve labour conditions for garment workers.

FWF’s 90 member companies represent over 120 brands, and are based in seven European countries; member products are sold in over 20,000 retail outlets in more than 80 countries around the world. FWF is active in 15 production countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.

CARBONNEUTRAL

GLOBAL FAIRNESS

Carbon neutrality refers to achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions. This can be done by balancing emissions of carbon dioxide with its removal (often through carbon offsetting) or by simply eliminating emissions from society (the transition to the “post-carbon economy”). It is used in the context of carbon dioxide-releasing processes associated with transportation, energy production, agriculture, and industry.

CARBON NEUTRAL

Although the term “carbon neutral” is used, a carbon footprint also includes other greenhouse gases, usually carbon-based, measured in terms of their carbon dioxide equivalence. The term climate-neutral reflects the broader inclusiveness of other greenhouse gases in climate change, even if CO2 is the most abundant. The term “net zero” is increasingly used to describe a broader more comprehensive commitment to decarbonization and climate action, moving beyond carbon neutrality by including more activities under the scope of indirect emissions, and often including a science-based target on emissions reduction, as opposed to relying solely on offsetting. GLOBAL RECYCLING STANDARD

GLOBAL FAIRNESS

The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) was originally developed by Control Union Certifications in 2008 and ownership was passed to the Textile Exchange on 1 January 2011. The GRS is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.

Accreditation Global Recycled Standard

GLOBAL RECYCLING STANDARD

The GRS is intended to meet the needs of companies looking to verify the recycled content of their products (both finished and intermediate) and to verify responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The objectives of the GRS are to define requirements to ensure accurate content claims and good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimized. This includes companies in ginning, spinning, weaving and knitting, dyeing and printing and stitching in more than 50 countries.

OCS 100

ORGANIC CONTENT STANDARD

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) applies to any non-food product containing 95-100 percent organic material. It verifies the presence and amount of organic material in a final product and tracks the flow of the raw material from its source to the final product.

ORGANIC CONTENT STANDARD

The OCS 100 relies on third-party verification to confirm whether a final product contains the accurate amount of a given organically grown material. OCS allows for transparent, consistent and comprehensive independent evaluation and verification of organic material content claims on products. OCS 100 covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of a product that contains at least 95 percent certified ‘organic’ materials. It can be used as a business-to-business tool to give companies the means to ensure that they are selling quality and getting what they pay for.

OEKO-TEX®

STANDARD 100

If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

The test is conducted by our independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes on the basis of our extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalogue. In the test they take into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. The criteria catalogue is updated at least once a year and expanded with new scientific knowledge or statutory requirements. It is not easy for manufacturers and customers to keep an overview of the legal situation concerning harmful substances every day. Our experts from the OEKO-TEX® institutes do this for you.
